Tetra Pak as part of restructuring to close plant in Ukraine

imageTetra Pak has announced its intention to close its plant for packaging production in Kyiv with the expected date of cessation of production on December 31, 2016.

According to a press release, despite the closure of the plant (the plant employs more than 180 people), Tetra Pak will continue its activities in Ukraine and plans to retain over 50 employees in sales, marketing and service departments.

According to the report, the decision to close the plant was due to difficult market conditions throughout Europe, which led to surplus production capacity at Tetra Pak plants in the region, among which the plant in Kyiv is the least loaded.

The Kyiv plant is not equipped for the production of types of packaging materials in demand, while its low loading makes it upgrading the facility economically unjustifiable.

In this connection, as well as through the company’s global initiative to increase operational efficiency and optimize load at plants, Tetra Pak decided to stop production in Kyiv.
