As of today September 23, the Private Storage Aid (PSA) scheme for cheese has ended.
The European Commission has announced today that it will open Private Storage Aid for butter, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and certain cheeses in order to alleviate the impact ofRussian restrictions on imports of EU dairyproducts and to limit the negative effects on the internal market.
There is little doubt Russia’s decision to ban food imports from EU countries, in retaliation for economic sanctions placed on it by Western governments, will cause considerable damage to the economies of both sides.
Russia may suspend all food imports from Ukraine due to a trade deal with the European Union, state news agency RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday (July 23). This follows a ban on some Ukrainian dairy products over alleged contamination.
