Russia is trying to limit the import of dairy

In Russia it is believed that bans on food import areappropriate response to world economic sanctions.

Dairy products from Ukraine are banned since June, 28. It seems that Poland will be the next, to say nothing about the restrictions currently in force for a number of European dairy plants.

Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance already began to block some deliveries of cheeses for Russian McDonald’s. Even plants of FrislandCampina and Danone, which supplied dairy mixes from Europe, got under strengthened control.

If this goes on, range of goods will be very limited for Russians. Maybe then shortages and queues in shops will approach the people to “desired” Soviet past. They will eat belyash (Russian meat pie) instead of cheeseburger from McDonald’s, and buy unbottled milk instead of yogurts.
