Production of cheese in Ukraine has decreased by 37% in July

Ukraine remained almost without export of cheese, and this direction was a basis of domestic dairy export still recently.

Production is considerably reduced and prospects of reanimation of the market are not visible yet, except the UAH will devaluate by a quarter, and then it will be possible to try to compete with the European cheeses on alternative sales markets.

In the first half of August the products were almost not exported. Only recently Kazakhs started to give special permissions and some companies already sold small volumes to this country. At the same time the deliveries of cheese products even to Russia are still not completely stopped.

Most of large players still sell traditional cheeses to distributors at UAH 56000-60000/t. Producers try to keep the prices unchanged for networks, at UAH 68000-73000/t. The prices are often lower that level under various bargain offer.

Production of rennet cheese was reduced even before total ban of Russia. In July it was declined to 8.4 ths tonnes, by 37% in comparison with July 2013. Yesterday’s exporters decreased the volumes the most. Some even large plants stopped production of cheeses at all.
