Once again the Ukrainian dairy market operators are suprised with the dry whey price: it  is growing, and the growth rate is much higher than on the world market. – INFAGRO.

Dairy market operators explain that the reason is that there are some previously concluded big long-term export contracts that impact the situation, as well as there is some increase in domestic consumption while the overall production has decreased.

In late June, demineralized whey was not sold cheaper than 18 thousand USD/t, and some operators value their products for the domestic market sales at 19,5 thousand UAH/t. Buying even the ordinary quality whey for less than 17 thousand USD/t was extremely problematic.

It appears that domestic prices for whey price are much higher than those demanded by importers. With a price offer about 650-670 USD/, traders at best agree to pay 630 USD/t. This means that in  couple of weeks them exports will fall – current contracts will be closed and new ones will not be set. As a result, by mid-August the prices of domestic sales could even go down. it is hardly possible that both consumers and traders will do a big stores when the prices are  so high, and manufacturers typically do not keep the product in stock for long.
