Milk powder market – 2015

report-powder-webFor many years Ukraine was considered as one of the major players on the milk powder market. It was among world top 10 exporters. In recent years the situation changed. Production of milk powder decreased drastically. Export dropped several times. The world market operators almost forgot about Ukraine as a major supplier of this product.

Trade (and not only trade) wars of Russia fundamentally changed the situation on Ukrainian market of milk powder last year. After the loss of the Russian cheese market, processors now have to reorient to poduction of milk powder in large volumes, the same as ten years ago.

In 2015 the record in comparison with 2008 increase in production is expected. Exports will grow almost four times in comparison with 2013, up to 50 000 t. Generally, Ukraine will appear again among the world exporters of milk powder. It will be difficult to increase sales after long period of stagnation. It is necessary to reanimate both production and commercial relations. And what is most important – it is necessary to work to improve quality of the products.

In present very difficult situation only the strongest players capable to quickly and effectively respond to the changing market conditions will hold their positions on the milk powder market.
