The new ways of export trade: from membership in WTO to Belarusian corporations

The Council of Ministers of Belarus approved the National Program for the Republic’s Exports  Support and Development to be implemented during next five years.
The Resolution of Council of Ministers № 604 of August 1 contains the details of the decision. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs  will coordinate the program to be executed by the bodies of the state administration and other state organizations subordinate to the Government, local executive and administrative bodies.

“The program is designed to define specific goals and objectives within the priority of social and economic development called “Exports”. It does not contain the detailed forecast of external trade in 2016-2020 years, but identifies the specific measures to support exports with the ultimate goal – to diversify and build export operations “,  – commented in the Council of Ministers.

According to the government, the purpose of the program – improving the system of state support for exports, minimizing foreign threats, use of competitive advantages of Belarus in foreign markets and reducing dependence on traditional export destinations by diversifying the range of products sold.

In the Council of Ministers it was noted that the program will allow the country to equally (by 33%) distribute exports among the three markets: , the Eurasian Customs Union and other countries, including the “distant arc” (Asia and Oceania, Africa and the Middle East, Latin America).

It is planned that the document will provide Belarus to export at least 65% of industrial production in the future.

To enhance the export potential integration of the economy of Belarus to the global market in envisaged. Among the main tasks are the common market within the EACU, liberalization of markets, services and capital, accession of Belarus to the WTO, expansion of cooperation with the EU and the US, promoting the national capital on the world markets including international multinationals and establishing the Belarusian own corporations.
