Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine on the complication in transit of Ukrainian goods to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and other countries

imageMinistry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine informed about the complications in transit of Ukrainian goods through the territory of Russian Federation to  Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and other countries.

Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine informs that on July 3, 2016 the Russian Federation issued Presidential Decree of 01.07.2016 #319 amending Presidential Decree of January 1, 2016 #1 “On the measures to ensure economic security and national interests of the Russian Federation in international transit cargo from Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan through the territory of the Russian Federation”.

These changes can cause a temporary full stop of transit of goods from the territory of Ukraine not only to the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyz Republic, but also to third countries.

The Ministry comments: “The introduction by the Russian Federation of the restrictions on the transit of goods originating from Ukraine is economically and legally ungrounded and will expectedly lead to Ukraine’s artificial deterioration of the trade terms with third countries, particularly in Central Asia. These limitations are non-transparent, unjustified and discriminatory, and violate the obligations taken within the framework of the WTO and the Agreement on Free Trade of 18.10.2011.
